The CRE launches a public consultation on the non-marketing of certain firm gas transmission capacities to reduce the risk of congestion on the NaTran and Teréga transmission networks between December 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026

On September 26, 2025, an incident occurred on a pipeline in the NaTran transmission network, located in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. This incident resulted in a reduction in gas transit capacity from southern to northern France.
As a result, NaTran has already decided to reduce the regasification capacity of the Fos LNG terminals. However, transferring this capacity to other entry points in southern France could increase the risk of congestion during the 2025-2026 gas winter. In order to limit this risk, NaTran and Téréga, the gas transmission system operators in France, have submitted several proposals to the CRE concerning the marketing of firm capacity at the Pirineos interconnection point with Spain and at the Oltingue interconnection point with Switzerland.
The CRE considers it desirable to limit capacity restrictions as much as possible. The CRE is therefore publishing a public consultation on the following proposals:
- the suspension of the marketing of monthly firm capacity at the Pirineos PIR entry point. Marketing of monthly firm capacity could potentially resume during the winter depending on how the risk of congestion evolves;
- the suspension of the marketing of monthly firm capacity at the Oltingue exit PIR, subject to confirmation by the Italian, Swiss, and German authorities that this measure will not affect the security of supply in their countries.
- The continued marketing of all interruptible capacity products (quarterly, monthly, and daily) and firm daily capacity at these two points.
Interested parties are invited to respond to the questions at the end of the public consultation document. Given the limited time before the next monthly capacity marketing deadlines, responses are expected by November 10, 2025, at the latest.
